Save an Instagram recipe without screenshotting it

Send a recipe Reel or post from Instagram straight into Stokd, and get the ingredients and steps as an editable recipe instead of a screenshot.

FROM INSTAGRAM, ON IPHONE

Five taps, start to finish.

Instagram is where most saved recipes go to die. The method is in a voiceover, the quantities are halfway down a caption behind a more link, and the post you meant to come back to is somewhere in a Saved folder with four hundred others. Sharing it into Stokd pulls the recipe out as text you can cook from.

  1. Step 1

    Open a Reel

Tap the share arrow on any recipe Reel.

WHAT TO EXPECT

What Stokd keeps.

What imports
Stokd reads the caption and the post itself, so quantities written in the caption come across. Where a Reel only says the amounts out loud, check the ingredient list after importing and correct anything the audio held.
Worth knowing
Private accounts you do not follow cannot be read, because Stokd sees the post the same way you do.
Editable
Every imported recipe is a draft. Review the title, ingredients, quantities and steps, and change anything that does not match how you cook.
Counts towards
Your weekly import allowance. Stokd Free includes 5 a week, and chef ranks raise that at no cost.

  3. Step 3

    Open Import in Stokd

  4. Step 4

    Paste and import

QUESTIONS

Instagram questions.

Does this work on Android?

The share sheet shown here is the iPhone flow. On Android, copy the link to the Reel or post from Instagram's share menu and paste it into Stokd's URL import instead. The result is the same.

The quantities did not come through. Why?

Instagram creators often say amounts out loud rather than writing them in the caption. Stokd reads the text, not the audio, so if the caption omits quantities they will not import. Open the recipe and add them from the video.

Can I import a whole carousel post?

Yes. Stokd reads the post's caption, which on carousel recipes usually holds the full ingredient list.

SAVED, THEN WHAT

A saved recipe should lead somewhere.

Once the Reel is in Stokd it can be checked against your pantry, turned into a shopping list of what you are missing, and cooked from step by step. See how the whole loop works.
