Turn a recipe Pin into something you can cook
Send a recipe Pin from Pinterest into Stokd and get the full ingredients and method, not just the photograph you pinned.
FROM PINTEREST, ON IPHONE
Five taps, start to finish.
A Pin is a photograph and a promise. The recipe itself is on whatever blog the Pin points at, which is why a board of two hundred dinners still leaves you cooking pasta. Sharing the Pin into Stokd follows the link and keeps the recipe at the other end.
- Step 1
Open a Pin
Tap the share icon on any recipe Pin.
- Step 2
Tap More
This opens the iOS share menu.
- Step 3
Add Stokd to Apps
Tap the green plus next to Stokd in the Apps list.
- Step 4

Stokd opens with the Pin ready to import.
- Step 5
See it in My Recipes
Your imported recipe now appears in your recipe list.
WHAT TO EXPECT
What Stokd keeps.
- What imports
- Because Stokd follows the Pin through to the source page, Pins that link to a real recipe site import as cleanly as sharing that page yourself. Pins that lead only to an image have nothing to read.
- Worth knowing
- A Pin whose link is dead cannot be imported. Pinterest keeps the picture long after the blog behind it has gone.
- Editable
- Every imported recipe is a draft. Review the title, ingredients, quantities and steps, and change anything that does not match how you cook.
- Counts towards
- Your weekly import allowance. Stokd Free includes 5 a week, and chef ranks raise that at no cost.
ON ANDROID, OR FROM A BROWSER
Paste the link instead.
The share sheet above is the iPhone route. Anywhere else, copying the link and pasting it into Stokd does the same job.
- Step 1
Find a recipe
Browse any food blog, magazine, or cooking site. If it has a recipe, Stokd can import it.
- Step 2
Copy the page URL
Tap the address bar in your browser and copy the full URL of the recipe page.
- Step 3
Open Import in Stokd
Tap the Import button on the home screen, or go to the URL Import tab.
- Step 4
Paste and import
Paste the URL and tap Import. Stokd extracts the ingredients, steps and cook time in seconds.
QUESTIONS
Pinterest questions.
Does Stokd import the Pin or the page it links to?
The page it links to. A Pin is usually a photograph pointing at a recipe on a blog, and that blog page is where the ingredients and method actually live.
A Pin would not import. What happened?
Most likely the link behind it is dead. Pinterest keeps showing the image long after the site it came from has gone, and there is nothing left for Stokd to read.
Can I import a whole board at once?
Not currently. Pins import one at a time.
OTHER SOURCES
Save from somewhere else.
SAVED, THEN WHAT
A saved recipe should lead somewhere.
Once the Pin is in Stokd it can be checked against your pantry, turned into a shopping list of what you are missing, and cooked from step by step. See how the whole loop works.
