Save a recipe page without the thousand-word preamble

Send any recipe page from Safari into Stokd and keep the ingredients and method, without the life story above them.

FROM SAFARI, ON IPHONE

Five taps, start to finish.

Recipe sites bury the thing you came for. There is a story about a holiday, a block of ads, a video that follows you down the page, and then, eventually, the ingredients. Sharing the page into Stokd keeps the recipe and drops everything built to keep you scrolling.

  1. Step 1

    Tap More

Tap More on the open recipe page.

WHAT TO EXPECT

What Stokd keeps.

What imports
This is the most reliable route of the seven, because recipe sites publish structured ingredients and steps that Stokd can read directly. AllRecipes, NYT Cooking, Serious Eats, Bon Appétit, Food Network, Tasty and SimplyRecipes all work, along with thousands of smaller blogs.
Worth knowing
Paywalled sites work too, to the extent the page can be reached: Stokd extracts what is there rather than getting around anything.
Editable
Every imported recipe is a draft. Review the title, ingredients, quantities and steps, and change anything that does not match how you cook.
Counts towards
Your weekly import allowance. Stokd Free includes 5 a week, and chef ranks raise that at no cost.

ON ANDROID, OR FROM A BROWSER

Paste the link instead.

The share sheet above is the iPhone route. Anywhere else, copying the link and pasting it into Stokd does the same job.

  1. Step 1

    Find a recipe

Browse any food blog, magazine, or cooking site. If it has a recipe, Stokd can import it.

  2. Step 2

    Copy the page URL

Tap the address bar in your browser and copy the full URL of the recipe page.

  3. Step 3

    Open Import in Stokd

Tap the Import button on the home screen, or go to the URL Import tab.

  4. Step 4

    Paste and import

Paste the URL and tap Import. Stokd extracts the ingredients, steps and cook time in seconds.

QUESTIONS

Safari questions.

Does this work with paywalled recipe sites?

Stokd extracts what it can reach on the page. It does not get around a paywall, so a recipe you cannot see yourself will not import in full.

Which recipe sites work?

Any site with a recipe on the page. AllRecipes, NYT Cooking, Serious Eats, Bon Appétit, Food Network, Tasty and SimplyRecipes all work, along with thousands of smaller blogs.

Does it keep the story above the recipe?

No. Stokd keeps the ingredients, quantities and steps, and leaves the preamble, the ads and the pop-ups behind.

OTHER SOURCES

Save from somewhere else.

SAVED, THEN WHAT

A saved recipe should lead somewhere.

Once the page is in Stokd it can be checked against your pantry, turned into a shopping list of what you are missing, and cooked from step by step. See how the whole loop works.
